A movie analysis show looking at your favorite cult and genre films from across cinema history. Each week, Dustin, Arthur, and Dalton try to apply academic rigor and critical analysis to the films you wouldn’t talk about in a film studies class while having a few laughs along the way. It’s the conversations you have in the lobby of the multiplex with a little more room to breathe, and the occasional footnote. Stay tuned to the feed for bonus episodes on new releases.

Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid
Analysis of Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid
The sun hasn't set on the westerns yet. We're back from our ocean cruise to talk the 1969 classic, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. Our journey back into anti-trash is exciting as Arthur defends one of his all-timers from the crazed ramblings of Dalton and Dustin. Along the way, we talk American Folklore/Legends we want on screen. The gang opens up Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid to see what it's all about. These wranglers talk the New Hollywood, commodification of art techniques in film, genre, and the gay subtext that people usually bring up in accordance with the film.

Titanic — GTGC #300

Friday Jan 18, 2019
It's a massive episode 300 as we set sail with one of the biggest movies of all time, Titanic. James Cameron's landmark romantic epic was the first film to cross the $1 Billion mark, and it stayed at the top of the box office for a record 15 weeks. It was a pop culture phenomenon that earned 11 Oscar Wins and 14 Total Nominations. One of the most highly recognized films of the modern era, Titanic is a juggernaut in many ways. So, what bigger movie to celebrate 300 episodes with than Titanic. In honor of 300, we bring in voices from the past, including Alex Bohannon, Caleb Masters, Kirsten Therkelson, Heath Huffman and a supernatural appearance from Nick Sanford. We skip the game this week to fully delve into the material, we talk meme culture, try to analyze GoodTrash and the prestige that surrounds Titanic. Topics of gender presentation and class standings follow. We also make a special announcement about an upcoming giveaway you can be part of, so tune in and follow us on Twitter @Good_Trash for more information! Yojimbo — GTGC #299
Saturday Jan 12, 2019
Saturday Jan 12, 2019
Our western walkthrough continues as we go... *checks notes* east today. Huh. That's right, we're bringing our trademark style of analysis to Akira Kurosawa's Yojimbo. It's the story of a lone wolf rolling into town to capitalize on chaos between two warring families—so, it's definitely a western. It also serves as the inspiration for the Clint Eastwood/Sergio Leone classic, A Fistful of Dollars, which we covered on the show on episode #218. This week, we take Yojimbo to the analysis table to discuss the genre, transposing the story, define art house cinema, and discuss the cult of branding. But, before any of that takes place, we play a game. This week, we discuss Stories Retold in New Settings. Tune in now and share your thoughts on Yojimbo with us on Twitter (@Good_Trash). Don't forget to rate, review and subscribe!
