And we're kicking it off with one of the most influential films of all time, Fritz Lang's Metropolis from 1927. This bold work has inspired generations of artists, but how has it held up to time? Happy New Year, dear friends! We're ringing out 2021 as we always do—The Shelvies! If this is your first time listening to The Shelvies, it's a look back at the year in GoodTrash as we reflect on all the movies we watched specifically for this show. It's not a "Best Movies of 2021". It's just a way for us to get an episode out without watching a movie. This is one we always recommed as a diving in point as it highlights the episodes we think were good and the movies that lent the most to the conversations. We'll be awarding our "Best Worst Movie", dropping the "Hebrew Hammer", discussing out "Favorite Discovery", and much more before we place the best titles of the year on the Platinum Shelf.

Our final episode of our Buddy Marathon hits right as the holidays are winding down as we take a look at the female-led buddy cop comedy The Heat.
