A movie analysis show looking at your favorite cult and genre films from across cinema history. Each week, Dustin, Arthur, and Dalton try to apply academic rigor and critical analysis to the films you wouldn’t talk about in a film studies class while having a few laughs along the way. It’s the conversations you have in the lobby of the multiplex with a little more room to breathe, and the occasional footnote. Stay tuned to the feed for bonus episodes on new releases.

Song of Praise continues this week with a look at Bong Joon-ho's monster hit, The Host from 2006. The story of a father chasing a sea mutant in order to get his daughter back hits many of the marks of a Bong Joon-ho film, including economic displacement, class struggle, and human interaction. It also tacks on economic factors focusing on the what if based on real life events following the dumping of chemicals by American forces. We're tapping into all of those big Es on the eye chart, before diving into a discussion of how the film functions as a monster movie, while also discussing its subversions of the genre. Tune in as we go through another verse of this very fun marathon focusing on Song Kang-ho.
